Published quarterly since 1979, Folklore Magazine is a unique venue to share stories of Saskatchewan. Folklore shares history as seen through the lens of personal experience and local, regional, and community histories. “People stories” are one of the magazine’s strengths – stories of events, daily life, family, humour, and unique experiences. The magazine is a partnership between the Saskatchewan History & Folklore Society (SHFS) and the University of Saskatchewan.

Folklore Magazine accepts original submissions that are clearly about some aspect of Saskatchewan stories or history. Folklore takes a broad view of what is considered related to Saskatchewan and what is considered history.

All submissions sent to Folklore Magazine are reviewed by our Editor. The Editor position is renewed every year, but our editors often stay on for multiple years. Other SHFS staff may view or work on your submission, but the editorial process lies primarily with the Editor.
